show as a set guy. The hours can be tough if you're not used to it.

This is day one in the Joe's HQ. I'm glad we're indoors today because
the sun was hot yesterday.

The Pirahnamedic bike comes in handy at a big lot like this.

Right now I'm waiting for a wardrobe test to be completed and then I
can head for home. After the big FX day yesterday, today was a
peaceful piece of cake.

What the sound dept. Won't do for realism.

This is our first day at Downey Studios where we shoot for a couple of
months.

TodayI found out that someone was shooting stills and video at our
exterior location yesterday. We may well have to hand over our camera
phones at call each day as the crew did on "Indiana Jones". I hope
this doesn't happen.

We are shooting a night scene on a set that has been tented in. The
only thing wrong is shooting the scene at night, the shot could have
been done during the day.

Great news! We are going to wrap very soon. We're on the martini, the
last shot of the day and it's "only" 1:02. The wrap out will be
fairly fast because most folks want to get home.

The Legendary Park Plaza

This is our second location today. We will be here for a couple of days.

The Park Plaza is a great old hotel here in the heart of the city. I
worked here about nine years ago on "Inspector Gadget".

Pet Peeve

Pet Peeve

Today we are shooting a fight scene between two kids and one kid runs
over a lit stove. The 1st A.D. does his safety meeting and points me
out to those on set.
I'm on set because there are kids and fire. Well, the "fight
coordinator" steps over to me and asks me to stay out of sight because
they are supperstitious about seeing the medic.

That is my pet peeve. I am trained to respond to emergencies and my
response time will be delayed if I'm not nearby. It doesn't make any
sense to sent the medic away from the action.

I do understand the stunt perspective, they think if they don't
acknowledge the chance of an accident then one won't happen.

I think this is a head in the sand approach.

I've had a kind of busy day; multiple lacerations and after lunch, a driver has a spider bite.

It turns out that the bite was from a Black Widow. The Teamster showed me where the spider hung out and it was a Black Widow Spider.

Thank goodness for my iPhone, it enabled me to "google" black widows and learn more about them.

A Blur Of Activity

Our Key Craft Service Technician Rich, caught in the act of
straightening up my cart. I took this picture because Rich is usually
creating chaos on the cart. This is the third show we've worked
together and he's fun to harass.

Day two we start in the same location and now we've moved for the
second part of the day.

This is the best start to a show for pace and schedule. We shoot three
days this week then we have Monday off for President's day.

Day 1

The queue to get out. We are somewhere in downtown Los Angeles for the
first day of production on "DS".

MOCA

This piece of art is outside the MOCA Admin. Office in downtown L. A.

Construction and SFX is prepping the location to shoot Thursday &
Friday. I've got a nice little spot steps away from the work.

The Web as a weapon

During a break in shooting Marlon Wayans intrduced the instructors to
his favorite web site (for shock value). I got a look at the site on
the bus ride. 2girls1cup is the site, I don't suggest viewing it on a
full stomach.

I'm on a "people. Mover" with "Dark Sky"cast headed for a shooting
range. Today is the first of two.

The sun is shinning there's a breeze and the actors are shooting live
rounds. Today is handguns and some rifle training and tomorrow will
be tactical training.
